About the oRBiters

Launched August 1, 2008, Red Bank oRBit is a companion website to redbankgreen, delivering news, information and feature stories about all manner of amusements and culture in the verdant slice of northern Monmouth County, New Jersey that we call The Green. It is updated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Red Bank oRBit exists because there’s just too much fun and mind-expanding stuff going on in these parts to fit into redbankgreen. It’s branded differently from its sibling website because, well, it insisted on it.

Members of the Red Bank oRBit team are:

TOM CHESEK, Editor. An actual specimen of Red Bank-area guy, Tom has worked for dozens of now-defunct newspapers, magazines and agencies over the years. He’s even started some now-defunct businesses of his own, including a nightclub newspaper, a direct-mail coupon book and a Red Bank boutique. A regular contributor to the Asbury Park Press’s theater coverage, Tom goes out every night and digs long, romantic walks in the car.

TRISH RUSSONIELLO, Picture Person. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Trish has worked in print, packaging and television, including a stint as an art director at Nickelodeon. She now does web work through Red Lamb Design when not making Tyvek dresses and deli-meat shoes just for the heck of it.

JOHN T. WARD, Publisher. After 20 years in daily newspaper journalism and five more as a magazine freelancer, John brainstormed redbankgreen in 2006. He enjoys 45-minute vacations on the porch and answers to ‘Johnny’ when used correctly in a sentence.

JIM WILLIS, Tech Guy. After helping throw daylight on mountains of public documents for the secretary of state’s office in Rhode Island, Jim returned to his Red Bank-area roots in 2007. Now, through Banyan Social Technology, he finds interesting ways for technology to help communities to flourish. He blogs at jimwillis.org.
