On September 16, it's the 11th annual running event along the boards and boulevards of historic Ocean Grove, to benefit the Ocean Grove Historic Preservation Society and their ongoing efforts to restore the old Neptune High School (now Jersey Shore Arts Center). On the afternoon of Thursday, September 16, it's a FREE multimedia concert by the master storyteller, mime and performance artist described as 'a New York Puerto Rican version of Bill Cosby' — and it kicks off a new season of arts events at Monmouth University, inside the wonderful Woods Theatre at the eastern end of the campus.

ART SUBMISSIONS WANTED by 9/26! On September 25, the second annual event at Monmouth Park Racetrack offers an afternoon of steeplechase racing, family friendly activities, food and entertainment with proceeds benefiting the K. One of the biggest (and certainly one of the latest) fireworks shows in NJ — a display that gets a little close to nearby residential blocks — happens each year at this evening party featuring music, food, vendors and kids' activities. Part of a nationwide series of events here in the 21st season of the Danskin Triathlon, the sprint distance swim/ bike/ run challenge returns to the Hook (it’s the official NY Metro area event of the Danskin schedule) with a morning of competition raising funds for breast cancer research. The annual block party benefit for the Red Bank Volunteer Fire Department...we're not sure if marks the end of summer or the kickoff to the fall holiday schedule in town...brings a strolling smorgasbord of craft vendors, snack purveyors and other activities to the northern blocks of Broad Street and the eastern half of Monmouth Street.

The Monmouth Museum hosts an opening reception for a display of 'trash' and otherwise 'found' art created from components that have been discarded and rediscovered.
